The Word of God says that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I would hope that the Word of God is the substance we hope for. and that the evidence is the revealed Word of God, that the natural man cannot receive, because of interpreting God's Word literally, and not interpreting spiritually.

The scripture goes on to say v3 Through faith we understand that the past, present, and future were repaired by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

This is speaking of a supernatural hearing of God's Word, thereby there is a faith of man, and a faith that is of God.

We cannot be justified if we are working with our own faith, apart from God's faith, as our own faith pertains to the literal things of this world, and God's faith pertains to the things of heaven.

2Cor. 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen(literal), but at the things that are not seen(spiritual): for the things which are seen (literal)are temporal; but the things which are not seen(spiritual)are eternal.

The Wisdom of God of His Word is Spiritual, while the wisdom of man of God's Word is literal.

The world is following after the literal written letter of God's Word, which is apposed to God's spiritual seeing, hearing, and understanding of God's Word.

By the world following after the literal letter it is doing the very same as the Pharisees and Scribes were teaching, the law, when Jesus came speaking Spiritual things.

We were delivered from the law(the literal letter).
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the(literal)letter.

Again, 2Cor. 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the(literal)letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth(eternal)life.

Again, Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law(literal letter); ye are fallen from grace.

The literal letter can save no one, but we must seek God's Word by comparing spiritual things with spiritual to come to the Wisdom of God's
Word, that was before the fall of man, back into the Garden of Eden where we can eat of the tree of life, which refers to God's Wisdom, of God's Word.
